What is A Better Chance (ABC) Adult Day Program?
ABC Day Program is a consumer focused vocational, behavioral program which offers support and services designed to meet individual needs and preferences based on goals outlined in their Individual Program Plan (IPP). ABC Day Program promotes Self Advocacy and Independence while teaching Creative Arts, Literacy Development, Mobility Training, Computer Skill Development, Cooking, Health and Well Being and Community Integration. For some, training may entail acquiring skills in self-control, communication, self-care, etc. For others, skill development may be focused on learning to operate a computer or cash register in preparation for independent employment. Skill development is focused on the following four categories:
Self Advocacy
Self Care
Vocational
Community Integration
Who Do We Serve?
ABC Day Program serves individuals 18 years and older with autism and other developmental disabilities. We are vendorized by the Regional Center of the East Bay and the Golden Gate Regional Center and we are currently licensed to serve 75 individuals on site. Our program site has over 10,000 square feet and is comprised of five work rooms, several restrooms (some with showers), laundry room, full kitchen, exercise room and an urban garden.
What Is the Process?
Individuals interested in ABC Day Program services must be a Regional Center consumer in order to be eligible for our program. Your Regional Center Case Manager can begin the referral process by mailing or faxing a referral packet and contacting Adria Carson, the Day Program Director, to schedule a tour of our facility. Upon receiving the referral packet, Adria Carson, along with the Clinical Director, Michael Pereira, will conduct an assessment of the individual to ensure that ABC Day Program is an appropriate placement and that ABC Day Program can meet the individuals’ needs.
