A Better Chance Day
Programs in Richmond and San Rafael are vocational, behavioral
programs supported by Regional Center of the East
Bay and Golden Gate Regional Center, respectively. We
specialize in serving consumers who have not succeeded
in other entry level vocational programs.
We start with an emphasis on hospitality and entertainment.
When consumers feel safe and stimulated, they are open
to learning. In overcoming their developmental disabilities,
our consumers represent the full range of functional
and adaptive levels.

For some, training may entail acquiring
skills in self-control, communication, self-care, cooking
and shopping, etc. For others, the focus may be on learning
to operate a computer or cash register in preparation
for independent employment. Training modalities include
delivering Meals on Wheels, janitorial work at a neighborhood
pizza restaurant, landscaping at a national park, detailing
vehicles, and production work at a chocolate factory.
We are committed to the ideas that work can be fun,
and that learning should continue through the entire
span of our lives. ABC Day Programs include numerous
opportunities for social and personal development, including
the ABC Choir, classes at Contra Costa Community College,
Art, Music Appreciation, hip hop dance, journal writing,
gardening, and puppy care. |
